Prohibition in Cinema Release from Jestha 2, Demand Must be fulfilled

The Cinema Times, Kathmandu – Nepal Film Makers Association have warned for prohibition in cinema release from Jestha 2 onward due to an issue between exhibitor and makers share distribution.

Association has forwarded 2 point demand during the meeting of makers in town on Saturday. They have demanded for implementation of the agreement on Hold Over subject between exhibitors and makers in 2060 B.S year. They strongly warned a complete prohibition in both domestic and international cinema release if their demand could not be fulfilled at given time.

There was an agreement in 2060 B.S for holdover of 55-60% for makers and distributors, whereas 40-45% for exhibitors according to the cinema premises physical facilities, business, places and arena in sum up of total raised amount of cinema release across the Kathmandu valley by reducing the vat amount. But, some of the big halls who are the members of cinema union are violating the agreements, and following even some of the small halls are doing same violation according to associations. The Press Releases states that implementation should be hornbook across the nation inside the Kathmandu valley and also the decision is to be made through the discussion with Film Union regarding the trailer, posters, local publicity expenditure and other demands in their 1st point.

Similarly, association stated for their cooperation with Nepal Government to transparent implementation of the Box Office system within the given timeline. Finally, 2nd point in Press releases hold a warning of prohibition for both domestic and international cinema release from Jestha 2, if implementation could not take place within Jestha 1, further added, Film union door is always open for the treaty.
