A Mero Hajur 4: Standing Against All Odds!

The Cinema Times

The Cinema Times, Kathmandu- Isn’t it time for unity among the cine workers? Shouldn’t they come together as a team and support a Nepali cinema? And maybe for the first time one Nepali cinema has shown the guts, one Nepali cinema maker has shown faith in her cinema. The team believes if the cinema is worthy, the audiences will love it. Shouldn’t we at least once support their belief and give them a fair chance?

‘A Mero hajur 4’ releases on Baisakh 1, 2079. Shifting the release date multiple times, the cinema finally locked the date of Nepali New Year. Well, a cinema is releasing, that should not have created a lot of tension, right? But, ‘A Mero Hajur 4’ adamant on releasing on its scheduled date has raised eyebrows even amidst Nepali cine workers. There’s not a big deal, it’s just that on the same date one big budgeted south film is also releasing. So, everyone expected AMH4 to reschedule its date, and the team did not. Thus arose the biggest contention of all time.

Director of the cinema Jharana Thapa has time and again made it clear that audiences are free to make their preferences. Some will watch AMH4, some will watch both, and it is up to the audiences. She has stated that AMH4 has got a story that the audiences will like and the cinema will get a good mouth of word.

But the unfortunate irony is the resentment between Nepali cine workers. Isn’t it time for unity among the cine workers? Shouldn’t they come together as a team and support a Nepali cinema? Isn’t Nepali cinema their home that they must defend? Moreover, wouldn’t it have looked nice if all the cine workers came together and promoted Nepali cinema? It would have set an example of solidarity.

‘A Mero hajur 4’ will be released on Baisakh 1. There were few rumors floating around that the team would change the date. To be honest, there were cases of pressurizing the team to back off. And this was insane! Cinemas do release and there are many instances of clashes. This is not the first time in cinema history that two cinemas have come together. And maybe for the first time one Nepali cinema has shown the guts, one Nepali cinema maker has shown faith in her cinema. The team believes if the cinema is worthy, the audiences will love it. Shouldn’t we at least once support their belief and give them a fair chance?

One cannot express how disheartening it is to have their own people trying to push them off. This vividly picturizes the bullies are afraid of the history AMH4 might create. The team decided to stand against all odds, and have the faith to release their cinema in their own country in the pre scheduled date. They did not back off, they for once chose the uphill battle.

Director Jharana Thapa recently stated, “From our first cinema Dharmasankat to Gorkhali, A Mero Hajur, Takdeer and others audiences have

showered us with so much love and this love is our strength. This support is what makes us keep going. AMH4 releases on Baisakh 1, 2079 and this cinema too requires the same support from all of you. Utilizing all the resources, technologies we have honestly tried to make a good cinema. We have tried to abide by our promises to our audiences of giving them a worthy cinema. Those, not in favor of Nepali cinema, trying to demoralize us will also see what a cinema AMH4 is! Right now we are fighting against a foreign cinema. Alone! But this is not the ultimate brawl. This day will repeat. Thus, it is high time we unite against the challenges and establish a market for Nepali Cinema. Jay Nepal, Jay Nepali Cinema, Jay Darshak, Jay A Mero Hajur 4!

Previous three series of the same name, A Mero Hajur, were blockbusters. A Mero Hajur 3 featuring Anmol KC and Suhana Thapa was a hit. Thus, audiences can expect more from the fourth series. ‘A Mero Hajur 4’ is a romcom having all the right quotients to elicit emotions. With good storytelling, the plot is guaranteed to be engaging. A Mero Hajur 4, Baisakh 1 is all we need to remember!
