Very few versatile performance opportunities for female actors : Swastima Khadka

The Cinema Times

The Cinema Times, Kathmandu – Actor Swastima Khadka is known for her versatile performances. Her upcoming cinema ‘Pashupati Prasad 2: Bhashme Don’ also presents her in a never seen before avatar. Because of her multifaceted performance ability, she has accomplished a lot. But, she feels there are very few opportunities for female actors to give prolific performances. There are comparatively few scripts written for that. She considers herself fortunate to have found the space where she could sharpen her execution.

Swastima Khadka is a bankable female actor, no wonder she has been a favorite to many cinema makers. Her cinema releases every other weekend these days and the kind of growth she has shown in her performances are note-worthy. Starting her career as the girl-next-door role to being called the versatile actor, she has changed her artistry scenario.

She will next be seen in ‘Pashupati Prasad 2: Bhashme Don’. Her looks in the cinema have become the talk of the town. She portrays the character of a girl who makes her living by enacting as Durga Mata in the Pashupatinath premises. It was not an easy character to present. The actor researched quite well before giving it a shot. She says, “This portrayal is not something that we see on a daily basis. I had to research it in the field. This was very challenging and I must say it’s my risky performance till date.”

She gives full credit to the director Dpendra K. Khanal for the effective staging of her character in the cinema. There were no restrictions whatsoever and she could calmly give her shot. She also feels she was very vulnerable during the shoot. First its Pashupatinath premises where the shooting took place and for every Hindu this place brings a different vibe. On the very first day of her shoot, she witnessed a father performing last rites of his son which caught her unguarded. Not only this, she was also bowed down by many as the Durga Mata because of her costume.

Overall, she has made an impact by her performance as seen in the trailer. She has given her best for the role; the entire team has worked on finalizing the looks for her and she has depicted the character with conviction.

Written and produced by Khagendra Lamichhane and directed by Dpendra K. Khanal, ‘Pashupati Prasad 2: Bhashme Don’ will hit the theatres on Kartik 4, Fulpati this Dashain.
