Star of movie musicals Jane Powell dead at 92

The Cinema Times, Kathmandu – Hollywood actress Jane Powell died at the age of 92 on Thursday. She was a singing star of Hollywood musicals such as ‘A Date With Judy’ ‘Royal Wedding’ and ‘Seven Brides for Seven Brothers’.

Her friend and film critic Susan Granger told The Hollywood Reporter that Powell died of natural causes at her home in Wilton Connecticut.

Powell was one of the last surviving stars of Hollywood’s Golden Age. She appeared in musicals during the 1940s and 1950s. She was born as Suzanne Lorraine Bruce on Sept 16, 1929.

Her first appearance was ‘Song of the Open Road’. She was 16 when she made her debut. Jane Powell was married five times.
