South Korean Thriller ‘Parasite’ Makes Oscar History Winning The ‘Best Picture’.

The Cinema Times

The Cinema Times, Kathmandu- The South Korean cinema “Parasite” won best cinema at the 92nd Academy Awards, becoming the first ever non-English-language cinema to seize the top honor.

Parasite, a story about the gap between rich and poor in modern Seoul, won a total of four Oscars, including best director and screenplay for Bong Joon Ho and best international feature.

Bong Joon Ho’s thriller has been one of the season’s darlings, despite failing to garner any Academy Award nominations for its cast. No film had ever won both international feature and best picture at the Oscars.

It was a remarkable outcome for a cinema that played with subtitles in the United States, beating movies by major studios and Hollywood veterans.
