Salman Khan gets 5 years Jail Term & Rs 10,000 Fine

The Cinema Times, Kathmandu- A Jodhpur court on Thursday sentenced actor Salman Khan to five years imprisonment and fined Rs 10, 000. Prominent Bollywood actor was convicted of poaching two endangered blackbuck antelopes in nearly 20 years legal battle.

He was filed against killing two black bucks in Bhagoda ki Dhani in Kankani village near Jodhpur during the shooting of ‘Hum Saath Saath Hain’ on October, 1998. His co-stars in the cinema Saif Ali Khan, Sonali Bendre, Tabu and Neelam Kothari were also accused earlier, but acquitted by the court due to lack of evidence and proofs.

His lawyer was appealing for 2 years of imprisonment. Similarly, government lawyers were appealing for 6 years in jail. However, the court sentenced him 5 years of jail. The Bishnoi community was to register a complaint against Salman Khan for killing blackbuck and chinkara. Bishnoi Community is preserving endangered blackbuck since long time.

According to earlier reports, Salman have been taken for his medical checking. Then, the police will take him to the Jodhpur Central Jail. Jodhpur Jail DIG, Vikram Singh has said that all the preparations have already been made for Salman Khan’s stay in prison. Further he added, there will be high security and the food served to him will be the same as what is given to other prisoners.
