‘Radha’ screening halted

The Cinema Times

The Cinema Times, Kathmandu- Lately Nepali cinemas are doing great story wise and also making wise. It looks like makers are ready to take risks and explore. But one thing that’s posing as the main hurdle is show time. The theatre runners are not providing prime show time to Nepali cinemas compared to foreign cinemas thus disappointing the makers. This is the reason why the team of the cinema ‘Radha’ decided to halt the screening.

The makers of the cinema ‘Radha’ organized a sudden press meet and announced why they decided to halt the screenings. Radha’s writer and director Subarna Thapa was outraged at the theatre owners. He was clearly annoyed with their behavior. First day, the cinema was given 45 shows but the very next day, the shows were deduced. 5 shows were cut off Saturday and only morning and day times were provided with zero prime time shows in the evening. Later, only 15 shows were provided. The cinema was multiplex targeted but QFX allotted only 3 shows for the cinema. Director Thapa was exasperated while telling this.

The team feels this is sheer injustice to their cinema. Thus, after discussing with the distributors they decided to halt the screenings. They are trying to find another way to release ‘Radha’ with proper show times. The cinema tells the story of a woman in search of her lost husband. ‘Radha’ stars Shristi Shrestha, Khagendra Lamichhane, Menuka Pradhan, Divya Dev, Dayahang Rai, Saugat Malla, Nischal Basnet and others.
