National film Awards: ‘Aama’ wins big

The Cinema Times, Kathmandu- ‘Aama’ emerged as the Best Feature Film and Best Director award went to Dipendra K. Khanal for the same film. Surakshya Panta won the Best Actress award for her performance in ‘Aama’.

The National Film Awards have finally been organized. Delayed by two years due to the coronavirus pandemic, the event was held at Rashtrapati Bhawan, Sheetal Niwas. The awards were presented by Right Honourable President Bidya Devi Bhandari.

Lifetime achievement Award was awarded to Nepal’s first actress Bhuwan Chand and Music Composer Shambhujeet Baskota for their stupendous contribution to Nepali cinemas.  ‘Aama’ emerged as the Best Feature Film and Best Director award went to Dipendra K. Khanal for the same film. Surakshya Panta won Best Actress award for her performance in ‘Aama’ while the Best Actor award went to Deepak Raj Giri for ‘Chha Maya Chhapakkai’. Best Debut Actor Male and Female was awarded to Ankit Sharma (Rato Tika Nidharma) and Aastha Thapa (Jiban Kada ki Ful) respectively.

Best writer award went to Pradip Bhattarai for ‘Jatrai Jatra’. Nimesh Shrestha and Surendra Poudel were awarded Best Editor award for their work in ‘Kabaddi Kabaddi Kabaddi’. Similarly, Hari Humagain received the Best Cinematographer award for ‘Chha Maya Chhapakai’. Gurung language cinema ‘Kachai Gore Gore Baje’ won Best Indigenous Cinema award.
