The Cinema Times, Kathmandu – Upcoming Nepali cinema ‘Nalapani’ based on historical issue is currently in its shooting floor at capital city, Kathmandu.

The war scenes have been shot at the ground of Nepal Army Gorkha Gana located north of Narayanhiti Durbar Museum. The scenes consist of 50 horses and over 300 troops with weapons at ground. Horses and soldiers for the shot were handpicked from Nepal Army.

The shot will be depicting the scenes of British troops coming to battle with Nepalese. 5 cameras are used to shot these war scenes. It is said that the scene will turned to thousands of troops with the help of VFX. ‘Nalapani’ will head to Upper Dang Gadi after completing shots in Kathmandu and close locations. It is reported that the shooting will continuously run for around 3 months.

The British East India Company Forces first attacked Nalapani fort on 1816 AD to capture the fort. Nepalese soldiers commanded by Captain Balbhadra Kunwar with limited resources and soldiers defeated in the battle ground. Yet, the British were impressed by the conduct of the Nepalese soldiers during the battle.

British officers not only accepted the confidence the Nepalese exhibited in battle, but also established the reputation of the Gurkhas as warriors. The historical ‘Nalapani’ is now located in Deharadun, India after the Sugauli Sandhi Treaty between Nepal and India. A legendary ‘Nalapani’ battle story is an important part of the nation’s historical narrative.

So, keeping the glorious ‘Nalapani’ spirit in mind, Rimesh Adhikari is producing cinema ‘Nalapani’ based on historic book ‘Bir Balbhadra Kunwar’ written by Ramraja Kunwar and Dr. Dhan Bahadur Kunwar.

Padma Kumari Films Pvt. Ltd. presents ‘Nalapani’ with around 1 crore budget. Manoj Shakya and Nitisha Shakya is the joint investor of the cinema. Producer Adhikari himself has marked the direction of it.

It features VFX of Achyut Gajurel and cinematography of Ramsharan Upreti.
