Film Journalism In Modern Era- Two Days Workshop

The Cinema Times, Kathmandu – The two days’ workshop training organized by Film Journalist Association Nepal has been successfully completed. The workshop training session was focused on Modern era film journalism.

The workshop was held at Film Development Board hall on Magh 13 and 14. More than hundred enthusiastic film journalists had participated in the event.

The workshop training session was facilitated by Chief Officer of Press Council Nepal Jhabindra Bhusal, senior journalist Krishna Bhattarai, cinema director/ senior journalist Prakash Sayami, senior photojournalist Bikash Rauniar and senior journalist Bishnu Ghimire.

Chief Officer Bhusal talked about journalism ethics. He emphasized that these types of workshops help in finding answers to hurdles faced in cinema journalism.

Senior journalist Bhattarai focused on news writing technique and history of film journalism.

Senior journalist Sayami put light on world cinema history. He further added it is important to understand cinema to analyze it. One needs to be alert on the changing story telling technique.

Senior photojournalist Rauniar spoke about cine photo journalism and senior journalist Ghimire stressed on visual language technique in the training session.

Senior journalist Naresh Bhattarai explained about the presenters’ work and its importance. Similarly, senior journalists Shantipriya, Bidur Giri, Bijay Ratna Tuladhar and Dabbu Chhetri also spoke in length on film journalism in today’s world.

In the closing ceremony, chief guest Bhuwan KC, Chairman of Film Development Board said that cine journalists have the power to amplify Nepali cinemas to the international arena.

President of Film Journalist Association Nepal, Dinesh Sitaula is assured that this training session will facilitate everyone on further days. Speaking at the closing ceremony President Sitaula further added, ‘There is no end to learning, it is a continuous process. We have tried to include more in this short period of time and I believe we have succeeded in it. And in the coming days cine journalism will grow further utilizing digital technologies.’
