The Cinema Times

The Cinema Times, Kathmandu- While the audiences sure love drama and action, comedy is one genre that is always enjoyed. In fact, over the years the public has started accepting quirky cinemas with far more interest than before. One of the most awaited cinemas of the year 2076, Chha Maya Chhapakkai is one such entertainer.

In a recent interaction with the director/writer of CMC, from the background that he comes from, Dipendra Lama strongly believed that script and its characters need to be the stars of the cinema. “It is always characters that entertain and not the hero or the heroine. Now we are focusing more character-driven cinemas,” he says.

Lama went on to add, “Success for me would be if people like the cinema. There are many projects that are not commercially successful but are made well. I think this is a completely different character for every lead of Chha Maya Chhapakkai, people are going to love it. It’s a socio-comedy cinema and it will do good business.”

According to Lama, CMC was aimed at the family audience, the director says he was conscientious about not making the cinema only comedy but also adding some deep social message that audience would relate.

On working with the team of Chhakka Panja including Deepak Raj Giri, Deepa Shree Niroula, Kedar Prasad Ghimire, Jitu Nepal, director Lama had lifetime experience and memories with no stress. He says he had just the stress of standing out as a good director and making the cinema unlike the taste of Chhakka Panja franchise.

Chha Maya Chhapakkai which released all over Nepal on Friday is enormous at the box office but also collecting positive responses from the audiences as well.
