The Cinema Times

The Cinema Times, Kathmandu – Akshay Kumar’s latest offering ‘Sooryavanshi’ was released to Nepali audiences from Friday. The movie had received a huge number of shows all over Nepal. No other foreign movie had received such a large number of shows before.

According distributor Manoj Rathi, ‘The movie was able to perform a good opening business on Friday morning as many audiences watched the movie. It was more than we had expected.’ He further added that in some cinema halls, the audiences had to return as they did not get ticket due to houseful shows.
‘We took risk and bought the film to Nepali audiences. We didn’t really expect to earn money from this but our main aim was to keep the film industry moving and to get the audiences back in the halls and we have succeeded in this. The film will do better business on Saturday and the day after. We are confident that the audiences will increase after Saturday and Sunday. Even the reviews of the film are getting better’, added Rathi.

Multiplex has given high shows to ‘Sooryavanshi’. QFX, Nepal’s largest multiplex chain, has provided a total of 58 shows at 10 major stations across the country. Similarly 6 shows has been given by One Cinemas, 11 shows by Big Movies, 3 shows by Kirtipur Cineplex, 12 shows by Fcube Cinemas, 7 shows by Qs Cinemas, 9 shows by INI Cinemas, 7 shows by VSR Movies and 7 shows by CDC Cinemas.

Directed by Rohit Shetty, Bollywood starts Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif are in the lead roles. The film also features Ajay Devgn and Ranbir Singh in guest roles. The release date had been postponed several times due to the on going pandemic.

Hopefully this type of craze and audiences in the movie halls will be seen in the release of Nepali films as well.
