The Cinema Times, Kathmandu – The much-anticipated Nepali cinema ‘Jaari 2: Song of Chyabrung’ made its grand worldwide release this Friday, dazzling audiences and critics alike with its emotional storytelling and cultural depth. Viewers were deeply moved by its powerful portrayal of Limbu culture, emotion and cinematic brilliance, told through director Upendra Subba’s poetic lens and authentic storytelling.
A spectacular premiere show at Big Movies, Kamalpokhari, set the tone for the film’s release on Thursday evening. The event turned into a star-studded celebration with top names from Nepal’s cine fraternity and media’s strong presence. Directed by acclaimed poet and cinemaker Upendra Subba, ‘Jaari 2’ received thunderous applause and glowing reviews right after the screening.
Most of the guests praised the cinema for its heartfelt storytelling, outstanding portrayal of Limbu culture and powerful performances. Many noted that the cinema beautifully portrays how religion and cultural traditions faced challenges during the Maoist insurgency.
The red carpet buzzed with celebrities actors Ayushman Desraj Joshi, Divya Dev, Bipin Karki, Keki Adhikari, Aruna Karki, Pooja Chand; producers Rohit Adhikari, Saroj Nyaupane, Raunak Bikram Kadel and Arjun Kumar; director Deepak Prasad Acharya and from the ‘Jaari 2’ team- director Upendra Subba, producers Rambabu Gurung, Maniram Pokhrel and lead stars Dayahang Rai, Miruna Magar, Bijay Baral and Reecha Sharma.
Actress Miruna Magar, draped in a stunning outfit reflecting Limbu heritage, turned heads and became one of the evening’s highlights.
Among the distinguished guests gracing the premiere was former Deputy Speaker Indira Rana Magar, who whole-heartedly praised the cinema. “I loved the first Jaari, and this sequel touched me even more. It delivers a beautiful message and captures a different era with grace and authenticity. I truly believe audiences will adore it.”
Released globally from Kartik 21, ‘Jaari 2’ is already creating a storm at the box office, with packed shows and soaring demand, particularly eastern Nepal.
Written and directed by Upendra Subba, produced by Rambabu Gurung, Madhu Mijar and Jiban Gurung, the cinema stars Dayahang Rai, Miruna Magar, Bijay Baral alongside a stellar cast including Buddhi Tamang, Richa Sharma, Pushkar Gurung, Prem Subba, Maotse Gurung, Manhang Lawati, Bishnu Moktan, Kamal Mani Nepal, Anil Subba, Rekha Limbu, Bedna Rai, and Sirjana Ninglekhu.
