The Cinema Times, Kathmandu – The wait is over as the sequel to the blockbuster ‘Jaari’ is officially on the way! ‘Jaari 2’ has dropped three posters along with its release date- Asoj 3, generating widespread buzz. Helmed by poet-turned-director Upendra Subba, ‘Jaari 2’ promises another powerful cinematic journey into the soul of Limbu culture and emotion.
The posters capture Dayahang Rai and Miruna Magar in joyous, culturally significant moments. In one, Dayahang is seen playfully beating the traditional Chyabrung drum, a symbol deeply embedded in Limbu heritage, while Miruna beams in vibrant Limbu attire. Titled Jaari 2: Song of Chyabrung, the poster offers a visual tribute to the rich heritage the cinema is rooted in.
Another poster features actors Buddhi Tamang and Bijay Baral, where another scene shows Dayahang with a walking stick, accompanied by a young Miruna and local porters. The posters reveal that ‘Jaari 2’ is set to dive deep into the world of chyabrung, an integral cultural element of the Limbu community. These visuals hint at a narrative that blends a compelling story centered on cultural pride and resilience.
Produced under the banner of Baasuri Films and Kabaddi Films, ‘Jaari 2’ is produced by the acclaimed director Rambabu Gurung. The ensemble cast includes Dayahang Rai, Miruna Magar, Bijay Baral, Buddhi Tamang, Reecha Sharma, Pushkar Gurung, Prem Subba, Maotse Gurung, Manahang Lawoti, Bishnu Moktan, Kamal Mani Nepal, Anil Subba, Rekha Limbu, Bedana Rai and Sirjana Ninglekhu among others.
Given the monumental success of ‘Jaari’ which grossed over 17 crores in Nepal alone, expectations are high for the sequel. From the posters and production to the cultural themes at its core, it is once again poised to strike gold at the box office bringing a heartfelt cultural story to life.
