The Cinema Times, Kathmandu – Prakash Saput put his emotions in black and white, attached to his new cinematic narrative ‘Basanta’- ‘Basanta is me; my ikigai. It summarizes my existence, my purpose, my identity. What continues will just be a flow to Basanta, there is nothing beyond this or more to it.’
Prakash Saput has already proven his versatility via art, may it be as a singer, composer, lyricist, dancer or actor. He has done it all in excellence. Plus he has always addressed societal issues and he is set to do it again with ‘Basanta’. The cinema will shed light on caste-based discrimination, delving deeper into the theme.
With the poster release of the cinema, Saput has expressed how deeply connected he is with this project. ‘Basanta’ is not just a cinema for him, it is his true purpose, his essence and his soul. He has expressed all shades of emotions in this cinema. He states his limit is where ‘Basanta’ ends; but looking at how ‘Basanta’ rolls, Saput and Basanta are unstoppable.
The newly released poster presents Basanta (played by Saput) as a writer amidst books and in mentorship of legendary writers Laxmi Prasad Devkota, Parijat and others. His penmanship against those who differentiates between human, same blood, same sweat and same shadow. His eloquence questioning the water pot made by a dalit is touchable but why is the same person untouchable!
Basanta means spring, season of new beginnings, blossoming flowers, promising better days ahead! The cinema ‘Basanta’ also indicates enhancement of new ideas, implementation of new policies and equality for all. Under the banner of Galbandi Production, the cinema is produced by Mohan Bishwakarma and Bindu Bohora with Anurodh Bhattarai, Nana Thakali and Birendra Narayan Shrestha as executive producers.
Prakash Saput’s directorial ‘Basanta’ featuring Swastima Khadka, Khadga Bahadur Pun, Prabhat Pal, Shree Shivanshi, Urmila Lampade among others will hit the cinemas on Chaitra 22.
