The Cinema Times, Kathmandu – The cabinet meeting held on Monday decided on Bhuwan KC’s appointment as the chairperson of Film Development Board. Popularly known as Superstar, KC has dedicated four decades of his life to Nepali cinema. A lot of expectations for the betterment of the cinema sector have arisen with his appointment.

Actor Bhuwan KC has been appointed as the chairperson of Film Development Board. The newly appointed chairperson will have two years tenure. The cabinet meeting held on Monday decided on KC’s appointment as the chairperson.

After completion of former chairperson Daya Ram Dahal’s tenure, the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology had asked for an application for the post. Bhuwan KC has been selected from 10 shortlisted candidates. Arun Kumar Pradhan, Naresh Kumar Poudel, Manish Pandit, Suchitra Shrestha, Sushma Karki, Deepak Shrestha, Samjhana Upreti Rauniar, Nirmal Raj Dhakal and Sunil Kumar Pokharel were other applicants for the post.

Bhuwan KC is a renowned name in Nepali cinema sector. He is involved in acting, cinema production and direction. A lot of expectations for the betterment of the cinema sector have arisen with his appointment. Popularly known as Superstar, KC has given four decades of his life to Nepali cinema. He knows hurdles that have lagged Nepali cinema behind. So, in his tenure, if he makes decisions for easy release of Nepali cinema and other facilities for film workers, he will be deeply appreciated.
