The Cinema Times

The Cinema Times, Kathmandu – True cinema does more than entertain; it questions, reflects, and inspires. When artistic storytelling is paired with social relevance, it creates an enduring impact where provoking thoughts leave a deeper imprint, and ‘Jhari Pachhi Ko Indreni’ aspires to do precisely that. It is more than simple entertainment, it is a voice of conscience.

The cinema presents a stark and unsettling portrait of Nepal fatigued by deep-rooted corruption. It narrates the real face of the society where dishonesty is routine and even the simplest task demands the intervention of middlemen. ‘Jhari Pachhi Ko Indreni’ holds up a truthful mirror to contemporary Nepali society.

As revealed in the trailer, the cinema captures the frustration of a generation disillusioned by bribery-ridden administration and unaccountable state authorities where the dreams of leaving the country arise naturally. But when the family stands in the way, the youths are compelled to confront the corrupt system. The narrative explores how the young generation, whether leaving the country on their own or as dependents, simultaneously nurture a desire to reform Nepal’s political and social structure. The trailer further depicts how rising public resistance forces political leaders into hiding to protect their own lives.

Produced by Nagraj Entertainment Pvt. Ltd., the cinema marks the long-awaited comeback of actor Ganesh Upreti, who returned to Nepal from the United States specifically for the cinema’s shoot.

The ensemble cast features Ganesh Upreti, Ramesh Upreti, Prakash Ghimire, Deepashree Niraula, Sarita Giri, Desh Bhakta Khanal, Nirmal Sharma, Krishna Siwakoti, Krishna Bhakta Maharjan, Arjun Ghimire (Pande), Priyana Acharya (Munni), Anshu Maharjan, Rajendra Nepali, Lakshana Rai, among others.

Set for a nationwide release on Poush 4, the cinema also introduces Bimochan Dawadi and Jesika Pokharel in their acting debuts. Child actor Dipshan Chilwal also appears in the film. Additionally, model Anjali Adhikari and choreographer Pradeep Lama are seen in special appearances in one of the songs.

Based on a story by director Arjun Ghimire, the screenplay and dialogues are co-written by Ganesh karki and Bishal Ghimire. The cinematography is by Buddha Thapa. Produced by Anisha Sendang Limbu and co-produced by Anu Thapa, Pankaj Khadka, Sirjana Khadka, Ram Karki and Subas Sharma, Yogesh Khatiwada and Binod Kandel serve as line producers.
