The Cinema Times

The Cinema Times, Kathmandu – Ekta Poudel’s debut directorial ‘Harsha’, releasing on Mangsir 12, has officially dropped its first song Sitthi Maar – and it’s already creating a festive buzz. Bursting with rhythm, color, and joy, the song captures the heart of a big family celebration and is tipped to become the newest dance anthem for Nepali gatherings.

Composed by hitmaker Alish Karki, with vocals by Pratap Das and Sadiksha Kattel and lyrics by Pavitra Ghimire, Sitthi Maar is an irresistible mix of catchy beats and heartwarming energy. Choreographed by Sunil Chhetri and shot by Alok Shukla, the music video features nearly the entire cast – Barsha Raut, Khagendra Lamichhane, Santosh Panta, Bishal Pahari, Sharmila Malla, Maotse Gurung, Lunibha Tuladhar, and more – dancing together in a vibrant family setting. The result is a colorful, high-energy fusion dance sequence that celebrates togetherness.

Producers believe Sitthi Maar will quickly become a must-play song for weddings, parties, and family gatherings, bringing everyone – from parents and grandparents to siblings – to the dance floor.

Harsha stars an impressive ensemble cast including Khagendra Lamichhane, Barsha Raut, Santosh Panta, Sharmila Pant, Maotse Gurung, Bishal Pahari, Nima Pandey, Lunibha Tuladhar, Anshu Maharjan, Renu Pradhan, Suvarna Thapa, Shrishti Maharjan, Shrijana Napit, and child actor Saimon Wadi.

The cinema is produced under the banners of Ashtalakshmi Productions and E-Prime Movies by Prashanna Paudel and Bikash Paudel, with Hikmat Chokhal as executive producer. Written by director Ekta Poudel herself – the niece of the late legendary cinemaker Shiva Regmi – the cinema is seen as a continuation of Regmi’s cinematic legacy.

Director Poudel studied filmmaking at the New York Film Academy and holds a bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication as well as a master’s in Management and Leadership. She has previously made several short films. The entire shooting of the film was done in Chitwan, and it is currently in post-production. Poudel has expressed confidence that she and her team will present Harsha to audiences in the best way possible.

With music by Sameer-Himal, Basanta Sapkota, and Alish Karki, editing by Lokesh Bajracharya, and a strong ensemble cast, Harsha is shaping up to be a complete family entertainer. The makers are confident that Sitthi Maar will set the tone for the film’s release and become a must-play song at parties and family gatherings across Nepal.

The cinema includes lyrics by the late Shiva Regmi, Dr. Krishnahari Baral, Pavitra Ghimire, and Neerkamal Khadka, with Ishwar Ghimire as production manager and Kuldeep Sharma as chief assistant director. The distribution rights are handled by Govinda Shahi’s Kafiya Films in Kathmandu and DCN for outside Kathmandu, while its digital rights have been purchased by Budha Subba Digital.
