The society sees a 30-yrs-old, like literally old, unmarried woman who is now a burden to her family if left unmarried! The teaser of ‘Behuli from Meghauli’ effectively explores the role of a woman as expected to play by the society.
The teaser begins with the note that the protagonist has reached 30 and then begins the search of the groom. Whether they are compatible or not is not anyone’s concern, the wedding date is already set, the family now wants a two-legged groom! The journey of a woman caught in the complexities of marriage and family is so well presented with humor. It has already captured the attention of cinephiles.
All the actors appear to embody their roles with authenticity bringing the narrative to life. The background score complements the narrative. With its strong performances, stunning visuals and compelling music, it succeeds in creating anticipation. The cinema is poised to be a significant addition to Nepali cinema.
The cinema is produced as a joint venture of Black Horse Pictures and Meghauli Films. Written and directed by Akash Baral and Sajan Kafle, the cinema is produced by Swastima Khadka and Nischal Basnet. Baral and Kafle are making a directorial debut with this cinema.
Firoj Khadka and Shankar Pandey are the executive producers. The crew include Narendra Mainali as DOP, Nimesh Shrestha as editor, Bijay Baral as casting director, Pradip Lama and Kebika khatri as choreographers.
Releasing on the occasion of Ghatasthapana on Asoj 17, ‘Behuli from Meghauli’ is a thought-provoking exploration of marriage, tradition and the challenges faced by women in a patriarchal society.
