The Cinema Times

The Cinema Times, Kathmandu – Set on a revolutionary path to create history, Nepali cinema ‘Balidan’ is ready to start shooting. It is based on the story of the much needed sacrifice of the autocrats who have exploited Nepal’s sovereignty and made people suffer the wrong fate.

Director Santosh Sen claims this cinema is an epic story and he is ready to sacrifice his life for it. It has been months, he has been strenuously working for the construction of cinema locations, set design and other arrangements in Biratnagar and Itahari of eastern Nepal. He has also been in talks with South Indian technicians. This cinema is bound to create history and be revolutionary as the production team has put in a lot of hard work and expense in the pre-production.

Sen’s mega project ‘Balidan’ will have an action director, cinematographer and other technicians who have worked in 100 crore club blockbuster South Indian cinemas. This technical team is signed for high remuneration, which includes action director Stunner Sam, cinematographer Sharan Rishi along with other 50 technicians.

The action director Sam has worked in Rana Daggubatti’s ‘Haathi Mere Saathi’, Vikram’s ‘Thangalaan’. Cinematographer Rishi had shot last week released Nepali cinema ‘Bato: Road to Death’ for which he is being praised. He has also worked in popular cinemas in South India like Superstar Rajnikanth’s ‘Petta’ and Superstar Chiranjeevi’s ‘Acharya’.

Sen is the man who opts for the betterment of Nepali cinemas and settles for nothing less. Compromising on nothing, technical equipment light, sound, camera are being brought from Mumbai, India. He says, ‘We have vowed to leave no stones unturned to make a high quality cinema. For this we are working with technicians from South Indian cinemas and equipment from Mumbai. I promise this will not be an ordinary cinema but will prove to be historically revolutionary and a milestone for Nepali cine industry.’

A grand set has been built in BMC Studio, Itahari. As per the co-producer Prem Puri, the work of set construction in Biratnagar is almost in its final stage. Nearly 60% of the cinema will be shot in studios.

‘Balidan’ stars Samir Bhatt, son of Nepali action star Biraj Bhatt, as the protagonist. Nepali cine sector was lagging a full package hero and looking at how Samir has moulded himself, this scantiness will be fulfilled. Samir had been training himself since a decade for the cinema. He has been taking lessons in Mumbai for acting, martial arts and gymnastics. The cinema also stars Saugat Malla, Arpan Thapa, Divya Dev and Richa Sharma in lead roles.

Presented by Aasusen Films Pvt. Ltd. and Santosh Sen, ‘Balidan’ is produced by Bradford Bist with Prem Puri as co-producer.
