‘Gaun Aayeko Bato’ Trailer- Struggle brought by Progress

The Cinema Times

The Cinema Times, Kathmandu – The official trailer of Nabin Subba’s directorial ‘Gaun Aayeko Bato – A Road To A Village’ has been released.  The trailer addresses the complexities of modernisation and its impact on marginalised communities. There is happiness, curiosity, hope that comes with the road, but again there are difficulties, dejection and vexation.

What started with light, heart-warming moments between a father and a son soon turned into a heart-wrenching event as the progress brought by the road took away this beautiful family’s smile.

The three and a half minutes long trailer portrays  the impact of a road built in the life of Maila, a basket weaver, played by Dayahang Rai and Maili, played by Pasupati Rai whose dream is to fulfil their son Bindrey’s wishes played by Prasan Rai. The cinema presents the struggle between tradition and progress faced by Nepal as a developing country.

Dayahang Rai, Pashupati Rai, Prasan Rai, Prem Subba, Keshab Rai, Raj Thapa, Sumitra Rai are seen in pivotal roles. Produced under the banner of Menchhyayem Pictures and Baasuri Films in co-production with Gaun Ghar Productions and Chomolungma Productions,  the screenplay is by Mahesh Rai and Nabin Subba and is produced by Amod Rai and Nabin Subba. The executive producers are Sanju Rai, Devraj Rai, Narhang Rai and Bhim Rai. Mahesh Rai’s story is shot by Josh Herum and edited by Kwan Pun Leung.

Director Subba is known for his different presentation and story. ‘Numafung’ was his first directorial, ‘Gaun Aayeko Bato’ is his third cinema while his second ‘Goodbye Kathmandu’ has not yet been publicly released.

Having collected rave reviews and accolades worldwide, the cinema will now release in Nepal on Jestha 25.
