The Cinema Times, Kathmandu – The teaser of Ram Babu Gurung’s directorial venture ‘Degree Maila: MA 3rd Class’ promises an organic humorous dose on education system and unemployment issues.

The teaser starts with the so-called respectable persons of the village testing  Dayahang Rai’s English degree. The first look at the teaser guarantees laughter. As the character played by Rai speaks English fluently, the examiners, who don’t get a single word, are convinced that he has graduated Masters in English offering him the job to teach and what follows will be enthralling.

The main leads of the cinema Dayahang Rai and Aanchal Sharma are featured together for the first time in ‘Degree Maila’. The pair looks refreshing. Actors Maotse Gurung, Prakash Ghimire, Bijay Baral, Buddhi Tamang, Kamal Mani Nepal, Pashupati Rai and others are in pivotal roles.

Director Gurung, known for his relevant and authentic style is all set to present another entertainer. His directorials ‘Kabaddi 4’ was a blockbuster, ‘Fulbari’ performed well and ‘Jaari’ was a huge success at the box office.

Produced under the banner of Baasuri Films, the cinema is based on the popular drama Degree Maila. Dayahang Rai had played the protagonist in the drama and had also directed the play. The cinema talks about the educated unemployment issues among the youths of the nation. The story is pertinent in today’s time as there are many educated youths without jobs left with a degree in hand.

The cinema is produced by Bishal Gurung, Mani Ram Pokhrel, Madhu Mijar and Sushma Gurung with Krishh Lama as executive producer. Other crews include Shiva Ram Shrestha and Riley H. Shen as cinematographer, Nimesh Shrestha as editor, Rohit Shakya in background music.

‘Degree Maila: MA 3rd Class’ will hit the cinemas on 2081 new year.
