The Cinema Times, Kathmandu- RRR’s catchy musical number ‘Naatu Naatu’ wins historic Golden Globe for best original song- a first for the country. RRR created history by beating heavyweights like Taylor Swift and Rihanna.

It is another big win for SS Rajamouli’s RRR. The song titled ‘Naatu Naatu’ which had become everyone’s favorite right from the start has now made the world dance to its tune. This year the Golden Globe Awards became extra special for India with RRR song ‘Naatu Naatu’ bagging the Best Song award.

Sung by Rahul Sipligunj and Kaala Bhairava, lyrics penned by Chandrabose with MM Keeravaani being the music director; ‘Naatu Naatu’ has been choreographed by Prem Rakshith. MM Keeravaani received the award while director SS Rajamouli, actors Junior NTR and Ram Charan cheered from the crowds.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the team saying the prestigious honour has made every Indian very proud. Oscar-winning music composer AR Rahman called the win a paradigm shift. SRK wrote on Twitter that he woke up and started dancing to ‘Naatu Naatu’. Akshay Kumar congratulated the team and said the whole country is dancing to ‘Naatu Naatu’ today. Amitabh Bachchan called team RRR’s win a well deserving achievement.

Written and directed by SS Rajamouli, RRR, which stands for Rise, Roar, Revolt; is a historical fantasy that tells the story of two revolutionaries who fight against British rule in India, played by superstars Ram Charan and Jr NTR. This action epic has been a huge box-office success and was chosen as one of the 20 best cinemas of the year by critics.
