The Cinema Times, Kathmandu- Khagendra Lamichhane has won hearts as a theatre artist, actor and writer. Be it Talakjung vs Tulke, Pashupati Prasad, Dhanapati or Damaruko Dandibiyo he has proved his versatility in acting. Now, he has presented himself as a director in ‘Pani Photo’ and the cinema has opened to positive responses from the audiences.

Khagendra Lamichhane’s big screen directorial debut ‘Pani Photo’ is Friday release cinema. Upon its release, the cinema received positive response from the audiences.  It tells the story of parents waiting for their son who went missing during the Maoist People’s war. Written by Lamichhane himself, this story was previously staged as a drama in Gurukul theatre. He has converted the same play into a cinema.

To present the drama as a cinema was Lamichhane’s dream. His dream has finally found its way to the audiences and the content has done the talking. Prior to the release of the cinema, a premiere show was organized for film workers. Everyone found the story, acting heart touching. Lamichhane’s directorial skill was also appreciated. The limitation of drama and the bridge between drama stage and silver screen has been crossed by ‘Pani Photo’ makers.

After watching the cinema, everyone couldn’t hold back from appreciating the plot, performances and direction. The characters touch hearts and certain moments leave one teary-eyed. ‘Pani Photo’ comes strong in story, screenplay, acting and technical aspects. It has been recommended to the audiences by cinema directors and critics.   

Under the banner of Tukee Arts in association with Manjushree film production, ‘Pani Photo’ is produced by Rozina Sitaula and Ravindra Bajracharya. The cinema stars Khagendra Lamichhane, Sunil Pokhrel, Anup Baral, Menuka Pradhan, Prakash Ghimire, Kamal Mani Nepal, Malika Mahat and others.
