The Cinema Times,Kathmandu- Samragyee Rl Shah and Puspa Khadka’s love saga “Maruni” has released in Japan’s Fushimi Million Theatre recently, a move generating a major buzz in Nepal and Japan social media. The male cast of the cinema actor Puspa Khadka along with producer Punam Gautam flew to Japan recently for the release of the cinema.
In recent years, Japan has emerged as an important market for Nepalese cinemas. The demand for Nepali cinema has witnessed a comprehensive growth in the last few years.
‘Maruni’ directed by Nawal Nepal released at the month of Bhadra in Nepal successfully collected positive responses there as well.
The cinema which also stars Rebika Gurung in the lead is a social drama with a romantic angle whose story is based on the LGBTIQ community. It is exactly like most other Nepali cinemas, in that it is purely a commercial take on a sensitive topic.
