The Cinema Times, Kathmandu- James Cameron directorial 2009’s ‘Avatar’ remained all time box office record champion worldwide.
It’s always a visually mind-blowing fantasy cinema for audiences. While promisingly, the first sequel titled ‘Avatar 2’ is all set to hit theaters in December 2018, Cameron will now be making four additional sequels of ‘Avatar’ with plans to dole out the cinemas over a six year period. 3rd sequel will continue in December 2020, 4th in December 2022 and 5th in December 2023.
Cameron told, “The Avatar story arc was originally meant to be a trilogy, but I overwrite and my writers overwrote as well. But basically the first of the sequels cloned itself and became two films, so now its four films, and the studio’s very happy with it.
They have an opportunity to make more money but it’s also an opportunity to spend a lot more money, too, so there’s a clench factor.” Cameron said “So far, what I am seeing in pure imagination is far beyond the first film”.
Further he added that very few people have seen initial concepts, but a select few have been left speechless by what they saw. He said, “It’s pretty exciting stuff. I wish I could share with the world. But we have to preserve a certain amount of showmanship and we’re going to draw that curtain when the time is right.”
